I am originally from the USA and have been living as an expat for over 26 years. I currently provide services to couples and individuals online and at my private practice in Berlin.
Before moving to Germany, I worked as a registered psychologist in Sydney, Australia in my own private practice and taught courses at UWS and UNSW. In the USA, I received my BA and MA in psychology and worked in treatment facilities for children, adolescents and adults as well as teaching psychology courses at universities. During my academic career in both the USA and Australia, I presented international papers at conferences all over the world. With over 23 years of experience in psychological services and education, I currently work with clients at my private practice in Berlin, Germany, as well as online. As a native English speaking psychologist, I am able to offer clients, particularly the expatriate community, psychological services in English to help assist with the difficulties they might be experiencing.
The foundation of my psychological training is in Humanistic Psychology. My philosophical framework is structured by Humanistic Theory (e.g., Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow, Sidney Jourard) and Poststructuralist Theory (e.g., Michel Foucault, Nikolas Rose, Judith Butler). Humanistic Theory influences my therapeutic style, while Poststructuralist Theory influences my analytical assessment and approach. I do use various cognitive behavioural therapeutic techniques, particularly for those individuals that I feel will benefit from them.
