Laura Chapman is a Jungian Analyst (2017) who trained in Pittsburgh with the I-RSJA. She is a Licensed Social Worker in Ohio and has been in private practice since 1980 in Cleveland.
Laura completed an undergraduate degree in Dance from Bennington College (1973) and received an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch West (1977). Laura completed the three-year post-graduate Training Program at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and their Intimate Systems Training (1995).
Laura's work in improvisational dance and movement formed an understanding of the body as a means for symbolic expression. Her early work as a psychotherapist included a somatic approach to develop awareness between the body and mental/emotional processes. Laura brings an embodied approach to analytic work. Her thesis was entitled The Psychoidal Aspect of Wounding; how the conscious exploration of one's wounded places can facilitate an opening for change, growth, and transformation.

Clients come with a desire to express themselves and willingness to take on a journey of self discovery. I support the client in entering this process in whatever way feels right for them. Individuals start by looking at their present situation, considering family dynamics, life scripts and their personal thought processes. I encourage clients to make deeper connections with their feelings as well as how their choices impact themselves and others. The task of my client is to uncover parts of themselves and to develop compassion for who they have been and who they are becoming.
I have not dealt with the direct consequences of war but I have worked with emotional and physical trauma. I am willing to listen and contribute in what ever way I can to support people through this time.
