It’s important to me to create a calm, warm and empathetic environment, where you can share whatever it is you are carrying with you, without feeling judged.
During the first few sessions, I get to know your current life situation, we delve into your values and define your goals. Specifying goals creates a reference point which we can always go back to and assess our progress.
I use elements of solution focused brief therapy (SFBT). What this means is that we focus on the here and now, we discuss what you would like your future to look like and we plan what steps you need to take to make this vision come to fruition. I also use elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). We take a look at your thoughts and feelings and how they influence your behaviour. I am flexible and adjust my approach to you.
My role is to give you a helping hand so you can get up, walk and run on your own again. Therefore, in between sessions I will give you things to work on in order to equip you with skills and resources which you will be able to use in different situations you encounter outside of our meetings.
