About me

I am Dr. Leon S. Brenner (Ph.D.), a psychoanalyst of the Lacanian Orientation. My practice is rooted in the belief that speaking freely and exploring the unconscious are essential to the transforming of the self. In my sessions, I create a space where individuals can express themselves without reservation, allowing the unconscious to reveal itself through their speech, dreams, and desires. As a Lacanian psychoanalyst, I pay close attention to the unique way each individual tells their story, recognizing that every person requires a tailored approach to psychoanalysis. My work is driven by a passion for facilitating profound changes in perspective and helping my patients navigate their way towards a more fulfilling life. I am committed to an ethical practice that respects and welcomes all identities, genders, and backgrounds, ensuring a confidential and safe environment for exploration and growth. My sessions are supervised by certified members of the New Lacanian School (NLS) and the APPI, adhering to the highest standards of the Lacanian orientation.

My approach

My approach to psychotherapy stands distinct within the vast landscape of mental health practices. As a Lacanian psychoanalyst, I am not here to provide answers or direct your life's choices. Instead, my expertise lies in crafting questions that guide you deeper into your own narrative, encouraging a dialogue with the self that often remains unheard. Through careful listening and strategic interventions, I facilitate a dialogue with your unconscious, helping you to articulate and navigate the complexities of your inner world. Psychoanalysis, as I practice it, is founded on the principle that you are the sole author of your life decisions. My role is to create an environment that supports you in making these decisions in the most authentic and uncompromised way possible. In our sessions, your speech is the key to unlocking the transformative potential of your experiences. By speaking freely about your memories, dreams, and fantasies, you engage in a process aimed at transforming suffering into desire, or finding satisfaction from the very source of your pain. It is in this speaking that you may discover the capacity to confront and make the difficult choices that have eluded you, bringing about a profound shift in perspective.
