I am an English-speaking counsellor in Berlin. I practice from a neurodiversity- and trauma-affirmative lens, recognising and respecting the diverse needs and experiences of each individual.

About me
*In person sessions in Berlin Mitte on Tuesdays and Fridays. Online appointments also available.*
I am a counsellor and a music therapist from Estonia, having lived in London, Berlin and Tallinn throughout my adult life. In my practice, I use talking and creative expression to help you access your thoughts and feelings that otherwise remain hidden.
I will support you in your process to develop an understanding and compassion for yourself, to overcome difficulties and to improve your wellbeing and self-esteem. During the first sessions, we may set goals for therapy together. Throughout the process, you will begin to understand yourself and others better, and experience improved relationships and quality of life.
My practice primarily supports neuodivergent individuals whilst also specialising in trauma, depression, anxiety and attachment. I offer a welcoming space for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Beyond my private practice, I have worked at forensic settings, neurorehabilitation and schools, supporting children, teens and adults. I actively engage is Continued Professional Education courses to keep my skills up-to-date, regular supervision sessions and my own personal therapy for the past five years.
You can contact me on here or via email at arulcounselling@proton.me. For more information, please visit my website: www.arulacounselling.com.
*If you can't see an available time in the calendar that would work for you, please get in touch with me. I may be able to offer you alternative times.*
My approach
Originally trained as a psychodynamic music therapist, I work flexibly in my approach to focus on your needs using psychodynamic, mindfulness, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), creative and body-based techniques. In therapy, you will be 'leading' the sessions since you are the expert on yourself.
I believe in working collaboratively with my clients. If something doesn't fit your needs, then we can always make a change. We are both working together to help you reach your goals, achieve better mental well-being, and a better understanding of yourself and others.
I work with clients on an ongoing weekly basis. The therapy process is entirely individual and depends on your goals and what you bring to therapy. I am here to listen in a non-judgmental way and support you in anything that comes up and to reach your goals.
*Please note, there is a 24 hour cancellation policy for all consultation sessions.*
