Dorotea Pospihalj

Multilingual psychotherapist in London

I can help you explore your personal narratives, internalised oppression and alienation from self and others. I have a wast experience in working with anxiety and dread, and with LGBTQIA+ community.

About Dorotea

What I can help with
I have lived and trained as a psychotherapist in multicultural London. Over the years, I have been helping individuals to overcome different symptoms and causes of anxiety, especially connected to larger socio-political and ecological difficulties we are facing today.

Personal is political
As a person I identify as queer, which helped me to understand and work with numerous members of the LGBTQ+ community. I look at individual's problems from a broader perspective, considering the impacts of social and cultural environment that influences individual's mental health. We are more than just a sum of our symptoms.

I work online and face-to-face in English, Italian, Slovenian and Croatian language.

My Approach

What to expect from therapy?

My approach is relational psychoanalytical, which means that I consider the therapeutic relationship as a primary route to deeper change. I am fully engaged in the therapeutic relationship, helping you to understand some of the deeper relational dynamics that might have been causing you problems in relationships with others and with yourself. During this process I might challenge you and help connect the Past-Present-Future in a way that will allow for new possibilities and options.
This is a creative approach, based on equality and mutual respect.

For couples
I use the principles of transactional analysis where we look at the relational patterns and learn new ways of communicating effectively.

For groups
I use transactional analysis, the approach that creates a deeper insight into your motivations and desires. TA is an approach that gives you the tools to understand and alter relational dynamics, with your family members, partners and relationships at work.
