Growing up and training as a clinical psychologist in South Africa - a country rich with vibrant cultures, diversity and complexity - has given me an appreciation of the multifaceted and complicated lives we lead. Living and working as an ex-pat in the Netherlands has added to my appreciation of how we are all trying to find and lead rich and meaningful lives, but this is a difficult task. In this journey, it can be helpful to have another mind to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences with you so that you have a clearer sense of why you do what you do, and why you are who you are. This type of insight deepens meaning and informs ongoing transformation in a lasting way.
Alongside working as a psychologist, I am also psychoanalytic researcher, and have published in the area of intersection between technology, selfhood and psychodynamics. I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, as well as a Doctorate in Psychology, both attained through the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
I work in-person in Amsterdam and Zaandam, as well as online. I can be contacted on the It's Complicated platform, via email at wendycain@protonmail.com or on +31682948955.
All registered psychologists in the Netherlands are required to have a complaints procedure available on their websites. You can find more information about this procedure here: https://nip.nl/clienteninformatie/klachten/.
