I use a creative and empathic approach to therapy, combined with techniques from CBT, ACT, Emotion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and body-centered approaches, to help you achieve your therapeutic goals. I am also trained in EMDR, a technique used widely in the processing of traumatic memories.
I believe that a lot of what we call "mental illness" are actually adaptations to difficult and stressful environments in childhood and beyond. Thus, I focus on the subject rather than the 'pathology', using your strengths and resources as tools to create positive change. As Dr. Gabor Maté puts it, "Everything you judge about yourself served a purpose at the time". Together, we look at such purpose with compassion to help you understand yourself better, find vitality and purpose, and create meaningful change.
Additionally, I believe that connection is a guiding principle in healing. Thus, I prioritize building strong relationships with my clients, creating a safe and supportive environment where you feel seen, valued, and respected.
I am trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and LGBTQIA+ affirmative.
I also offer a 15-minute free consultation to see if we are the right fit for each other!
