About me

Hi there! I am Kyra, a psychologist originally from Hamburg, bilingual in German and English. I studied psychology in the Netherlands and the UK, holding a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Currently, I’m completing my second master’s in clinical psychology, driven by a deep passion for supporting people through life’s challenges. Before becoming a psychologist, I worked in sales and procurement. During that time, I saw how many people struggle silently with stress, self-doubt, and everyday pressures without seeking or receiving the support they need. That realisation pushed me to change my path and dedicate myself to helping others studying first organisational and later clinical psychology. My experience is primarily in helping young adults with anxiety, low mood, perfectionism, procrastination, relationship struggles, and coping with loss. I have a special interest in perfectionism and its connection to mental health, having written my bachelor’s and master’s theses on its links to disorders like depression and OCD. Having lived in London, the Netherlands, and Australia, I understand how challenging it can be to build a life away from home. Adapting to new cultures, creating meaningful connections, and finding a sense of belonging can be overwhelming. I am happy to support you going through this time. I truly believe that self-reflection and vulnerability are powerful tools for growth. Each person’s journey is unique, and there is no “right” way to go through life’s ups and downs. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported—where we can work together to navigate whatever comes your way.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CBT: Cognitive behavioral therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
Clinical psychologyRecommended for those who need help with diagnosing and treating more complex mental health issues, often involving assessments and evidence-based treatments.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, client-centered, and flexible, tailored to each person’s unique needs. My foundation is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps identify unhelpful thought patterns and the ways they influence emotions and behaviours. Many of these thoughts stem from deep-seated core beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world. Through CBT, we work on reshaping these beliefs and making small, practical changes in daily life that lead to meaningful improvements. In addition to CBT, I integrate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which emphasises learning to sit with emotions rather than judging or avoiding them. I believe that real growth comes from developing self-awareness, self-compassion, and the ability to respond to life’s challenges in a way that aligns with one’s values. Depending on the individual, I may also incorporate aspects of positive psychology and mindfulness to support overall well-being.
