About me

Hello! My name is Artūrs, I'm a practicing Clinical & Health Psychologist (reg. no. 3001386), Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Gender, Sexuality & Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Affirmative Therapist in training. I'm currently living in Riga, Latvia. Feel free to use pronouns he/she/they when referring to me. My devotion to psychology and psychotherapy can be tracked back to my childhood when I began to express my fascination with people, as well as my own experience with mental health. I enjoyed listening to and comforting those around me in emotional pain. Later on, the constant curiosity for the depth and variety of human feelings, thoughts and behaviours has been my inspiration to become a specialist in the mental health field. I know how vital is having somebody who can make you feel safe, understood, supported and be there for you throughout the challenging journey. Besides providing psychotherapy, psychological assessments, leading support groups and educational seminars, in the days free from work, I prefer to unwind by trying out new recipes, enjoying complex board games and taking part in social activism.

My approach

Mental health and well-being is the result of continuous process in which awareness and involvement is developed. Psychological counselling or psychotherapy is the perfect place for that! My approach is evidence-based and integrative, which means that I combine and use multiple therapeutic modalities and methods like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy (ST) and Gender, Sexuality & Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Affirmative Therapy. I adapt my counselling style to you depending on your unique situation, needs and goals. I am constantly staying up to date on the new research in mental health matters to provide the best care for you. My main areas of specialisation are: • anxiety, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, specific phobias, Social Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, • psychological, physical and sexual abuse, • relationship issues, • gender incongruence & gender dysphoria, • sexual orientation, romantic orientation, gender identity and gender expression. Being queer myself, I mainly work with LGBTQIA+ adults. The languages I practice in are English, Latvian and Russian. One of my functions is to guide and help you improve your well-being and quality of life. To do that we're building a healthy and healing therapeutic relationship. In this safe environment, you will have a chance to explore and learn more about yourself, obtain and develop helpful tools and skills as well as alleviate various difficulties you faced or still encounter throughout your life. I practice online using safe video-call platforms. The standard individual session is 50 minutes long and usually takes place once per week. Upon your request, it is possible to agree on other options.
