Mental health is less about bypassing everything to get to the light and more about learning how to see in the dark. I would appreciate supporting you in this journey.
Hello! My name is Artūrs, I'm a practicing Clinical Psychologist (reg. 3001386), Gender, Sexuality & Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Therapist and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (in training). I'm currently living in Riga, Latvia.
My devotion to psychology and psychotherapy can be tracked back to my childhood when I began to express my fascination with people, as well as my own experience with mental health. I enjoyed listening to and comforting those around me in emotional pain. Later on, the constant curiosity for the depth and variety of human feelings, thoughts and behaviours has been my inspiration to become a specialist in the mental health field.
I know how vital is having somebody who can make you feel safe, understood, supported and be there for you throughout the challenging journey.
Besides providing therapy, psychological assessments, leading support groups and educational seminars, in the days free from work, I prefer to unwind by trying out new recipes, enjoying complex board games and taking part in social activism.
Mental health and well-being are shaped by how we understand ourselves and navigate life’s challenges. My therapeutic approach focuses on helping you uncover underlying patterns, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and foster self-compassion. Through our work, we will create a space where you can safely explore yourself, empowering you to make meaningful changes and achieve greater balance in your life.
My approach is evidence-based and integrative, I practice multiple therapeutic modalities – Schema Therapy, Gender, Sexuality & Relationship Diversity (GSRD) Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I tailor my therapeutic style to your unique situation, needs, and goals. I also stay updated with the latest relevant research in mental health to ensure you receive the highest quality of care.
Some of my areas of specialisation include: • Anxiety (Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, specific phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) • Psychological, physical, and sexual abuse • Relationship issues • Gender incongruence and gender dysphoria • Understanding and integrating sexual orientation, romantic orientation, gender identity, gender expression
I deeply understand the unique challenges faced by people from LGBTQ+ community, being part of it myself. I primarily work with LGBTQ+ adults, offering sessions in English, Latvian, and Russian. My practice is grounded in respect for diversity and an understanding of the complex emotional and social challenges the community can encounter. Together, we will create a supportive and affirming space where you can safely be yourself in your identity, relationships, and experiences, including those related to BDSM and kink, without fear of judgment.
My role is to guide you in improving your well-being, building resilience, self-compassion, and empowerment. Through our therapeutic relationship, we can develop valuable tools and skills to overcome challenges and improve your quality of life.
