I believe that humans have an innate ability to heal and grow, given the right conditions. I draw on different approaches to meet my clients where they are, and have been inspired, and helped myself, by the relational psychoanalytic approach. This way of seeing human suffering and treatment relies on the assumption that it is primarily the relationship with the therapist that determines the successful outcome of any psychotherapy. Given this, I consider it to be essential that there is a good "fit" between myself and my clients, for us to embark on working together. We both need to feel safe and comfortable in the therapeutic space. I consider symptoms to be signposts to important developmental needs that have been blocked. We will work together to carefully and mindfully bring awareness and attention to these needs, with the aim of fulfilling them in your present life. A spirit of curiosity and a motivation to expand one's capacity to understand and feel is almost always necessary for treatment to be effective.
