I work from a client-centred, needs-focused, and trauma-informed base and integrate aspects of the humanistic-existential tradition with compassionate communication, and process-based cognitive-behavioural therapy. I don’t think one size fits all and therefore tailor the counselling process depending on the preferences and needs of the client.
For some, that might mean simply talking, receiving acknowledgement and using the space for self-empowerment. For others, it might mean mindfulness exercises, visualizations, or expression through art, metaphors, and somatic explorations. The work in session can at times be comforting while at other times challenging. I attempt to help clients find a balance between the two.
I hold memberships and attend regular trainings with various professional associations, which helps me to advance my skills and competency in counselling clients on issues related to anxiety, depression, relationships, self-esteem, trauma, and purposeful living.
