Hiu's approach to therapy is trauma-informed and eclectic, combining knowledge of neuroscience, narrative, somatic attachment, and relational therapy through the lens of Intersectionality. When it feels appropriate, Hiu would suggest EMDR and clinical hypnosis. Her work is rooted in anti-capitalist and pro-liberation values.
