I started focusing on the psychosocial aspect of sexual health during my masters in clinical psychology 5 years ago. Given the strong psychosomatic component of most sexual health conditions, and the long path through health care systems of many patients - often without being taken seriously - I have since then focused on (female) sexual health and (gynecologic) psychosomatics. I have since then worked in research in the field in the University of Groningen, NL, and completed a PhD on psychosocial correlates of vulvar pain in women. I am currently in the process of obtaining my licence as a systemic psychotherapist and am further specialising on gynaecologic psychosomatic topics related to birth, childloss, PMDD, traumatic experiences and sexual abuse, topics related to vulvar pain and sexual health, sexual agency and communication in relationships, sexual orientation, gender identity, chronic health and autoimmune conditions, and post-cancer (treatment).
I am also a yoga teacher (200h) and integrate methods of breathwork, body therapy, and Ayurveda into my sessions.
