Integrative counselling & psychotherapy. I work with adults individually, short- or long-term, in-person & online. Particular experience in working with anxiety and panic, and interpersonal and attachment issues.
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and teacher working in private practice and based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. I work individually with adults and offer short- and long-term counselling and psychotherapy both in-person and online. I offer individual and group clinical supervision to qualified and trainee counsellor and psychotherapists. In addition to my clinical practice I also work as a teaching associate on a therapeutic diploma course training humanistic person-centred counsellors. I am currently enrolled in and working towards a L7 post-graduate diploma in advanced attachment-based practice and research.
Although all seeking help or support are welcome, I have particular experience working with anxiety and panic-related conditions, and interpersonal and attachment-related problems.
A naturally relaxed and reflective individual, I aim to provide a a non-judgemental space where we can explore and understand the issues causing you difficulty. It is my experience that building a reliable and trusting therapeutic relationship is an essential starting point for ongoing work, and this is expressed in a warm, curious, and collaborative way of working that assumes therapy should not be prescriptive and authoritative..
I have experience working within a number of third sector organisations and services providing counselling and psychotherapy, and currently work as an affiliate and referral source for a range of EAPs, emergency services, colleges and universities, providing counselling, psychotherapy, and clinical supervision to qualified and students undergoing training.
I use an integrative approach that is predominantly relational and that draws from a range of theories and approaches, specialist skills, knowledge, and techniques, in an effort to be as flexible as possible to the needs of each particular individual, and which is expressed in a distinctly empathic and genuine way of working.
Integrative approaches typically appreciate that value can be found in multiple disciplines and traditions. This approach is structured around a relational orientation that recognises the importance of relationship in the development of psychological problems, and most importantly, the provision of a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship as central to successful and effective psychotherapy. It is my belief that suffering is rooted in the past and the present, and that our problems can be explored and re-organized within the context of an appropriately safe, genuine, and understanding therapeutic relationship.
There are many reasons why people choose to seek help. I understand that it is not always easy to find the right therapist for your needs. Please feel free to get in touch for an informal chat where we can discuss if might be able to work together.
