I am a compassionate and skilled counsellor and psychotherapist, dedicated to helping you process internalised emotions, unravel fears and associated somatic memories aiding you to navigate healing and personal growth.
I am a UK BACP registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist (NL Psychologist). I have extensive experience working with adults, teenagers and children, both face-to-face and online, in the UK and internationally. My therapist training initiated in response to behavioural work with young people dealing with anxiety and low self-esteem. I create a safe therapeutic space for you to safely talk through your thoughts and feelings, and explore deeply rooted emotions and difficulties, to understand what does not feel right within.
I am compassionate and curious in helping you navigate healing and personal growth. I create a safe, therapeutic space for you to explore challenges and develop strategies for positive transformation, working towards your goals. Together we can explore issues such as anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, bullying, depression, negative thought patterns, limiting self-beliefs, international change, and unhelpful patterns in relationships and at work.
I am a people person, being devoted to supporting teenagers in my younger years. I started my first career as a Biology teacher, completing my MA in International Health Education. My desire to help the 'whole child' led me to working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties who often lived with a sense of fear and patterns of fight or flight. My career then evolved to working with inner emotional difficulties and self-beliefs linked to trauma in relational contexts. This work led me to complete my Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Level 7), and I also hold a diploma in Child and Adolescent Counselling. My hearts desire is that each unique person can thrive and flourish with positive wellbeing.
My approach is deeply rooted in the empathic therapeutic relationship, where I attentively listen to your somatic and emotional experiences. In our work, you develop nervous system regulation and emotional intelligence. Together we explore how you relate to parts of you, we reframe self-beliefs, and nurture healthier relationships with yourself and others. You are empowered to be choiceful as you move forward in line with your core values and personal wellbeing. I am particularly interested in the neuropsychology of trauma in the body, and the impact this can have on attachment dynamics, self-confidence and identity. In the therapeutic space I utilise creative approaches to assist you in unlocking unprocessed trauma and I regularly use nature and meditative visualisation in the therapeutic space.
My experience has included working with adults, children and teenagers facing the challenges of anxiety, low self-esteem, low self-worth, unprocessed trauma, food issues and addiction, self-harm, identity issues, anger, loss, relationship difficulties and personal autonomy.
Through compassion, affirmation, and unconditional positive regard we build a relationship where you feel safe, heard and accepted. Within this safe space, you can explore traumatic experiences or difficulties in your life, along with associated thoughts and feelings. You set goals and makes choices regarding the direction your therapy takes. Through the experience of being seen and heard you can soothe feelings of hurt, loss and confusion.
Using psychoeducation you develop understanding of how your body has developed triggering responses to threat or fear, and you grow in awareness of how your body and mind work together to influence your felt experiences.
Using creative approaches I enable you to explore your thoughts and feelings from the 3rd person. Using drawing, games, images, sand and stones, you develop skills in communicating and managing your feelings. You develop strategies in emotional self-regulation and further explore feared and hidden emotions.
In the therapeutic space I support you with a deep congruent presence of my true self, being fully present and authentic in the therapeutic space. As you feel safe and can work with deep emotions, you experience new physiological and affective relational experiences giving new meaning and initiating healing of internalised emotions.
I intentionally affirm and validate you and your identified strengths and qualities along with the impact of your experiences. You are empowered to explore your self-beliefs, and grow in self-understanding of protective relational patterns. You reconnect with your core values, and make meaningful shifts which empower you to emotional well-being.
As a UK psychotherapist in private practice I work extensively both online and face to face. I assist clients dealing with anxiety, low mood, unprocessed trauma, low self-esteem, attachment, depression, relationship difficulty and issues affecting sense of self and personal autonomy. I am passionate about helping each unique individual explore their self-beliefs, reconnect with their core values, and make meaningful shifts toward emotional well-being. I consider it a privilege to help clients gain insight into their attachment styles and relational patterns, which allows them to understand how these dynamics influence their lives. Clients grow into healthier, more conscious relationships which enable them to flourish in their life journeys.
