I'm a passionate psychologist with a background of Turkish culture. Growing up, I witnessed how social interactions (between family members, school members, communities, etc) play a huge role in shaping our beliefs, perspectives, coping ways. I experienced this because people are significanly interconnected to each other in my country and I'm very interested in observing human interactions. I believe my urge to bring my authentic self in my personal life also has a reflection in therapy sessions. The more the client has a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental space to express their true needs and thoughts the more they will get most benefit out of the therapy sessions. This expression of authentic self will affect the outside of world of the client and s/he will build more meaningful and fulfilling relationship with others and self. To take care of herself, I have my own destressing tool kit; which includes yoga, hiking in nature, spending time with loved ones, learning a new language and playing the piano. I enjoy trying new things and observe how they make me feel.
The Therapy sessions are considered as representatives of our lives. What you experience in real life, can show up in our sessions and it provides us a valuable information about where the issue is. The healthy rapport that the therapist and the client build together is one of the crucial steps in therapy to achieve. This is why my main goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space so that clients can experience themselves fully in the sessions without being blocked. I have been trained in CBT, Schema, EMDR and Mindfulness and I use the techniques of these orientations, yet, each of us is unique in so many ways, I do not limit myself to only these techniques but keep myself responsive to clients' needs, vision, values and goals they have in their lives. Together we start working on the treatment goals and map a treatment plan together. Colloboration and taking active role in the sessions are key to effectiveness of the process.
