Autistic women are often missed, or diagnosed decades late, after years of treatment for anxiety, depression, or a personality disorder. Part of the reason is that the diagnostic picture was built around men and boys. The other part is that women who camouflage do not look the way clinicians expect.
In this session, psychiatric nurse practitioner @Julie Angileri, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, covers how autism presents in adult women, how masking and its cost show up in an interview, which diagnoses tend to come first, and how life stages such as burnout and menopause change the picture. You will work through three case discussions and leave with interview questions, screening tools, and a checklist for referrals that get taken seriously.
Then you play. Attendees work through an interactive game designed to help you understand, at a deeper level, how it feels to be neurodivergent in a neurotypical world. The clinical material tells you what to look for. The game shows you what a patient is managing while she sits across from you.
Please arrive on time, the presentation starts at 18:00 sharp 😉
