As an English-speaking therapist based in the Netherlands, my main focus is on providing a safe environment where we can have open conversations about our concerns and delve deeper into understanding them.
I originally come from Zimbabwe, but I grew up in a very international community in Dubai. Now I'm based in the Netherlands, where I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and later earned a Master’s Degree (MA) in Counseling Psychology. My experiences have made me open-minded and understanding, and ready to build authentic client-therapist relationships.
Growing up, mental health was not at the forefront of my life. The traditional upbringing I experienced did not foster open conversations about seeking help from a professional. This created pivotal moments for me, sparking curiosity about human behavior. I initially began by asking questions about myself and then expanded my curiosity to those around me. I observed that there was always more to the story, igniting my journey into psychology and the path toward becoming a therapist. It wasn't until I turned 21 that I attended therapy myself and truly grasped its benefits.
I opened my own practice in 2023 https://www.beyondborderstherapy.com/ where clients can seek online therapy from the comfort of their homes.
I assist individuals in their mental health journey by customizing therapy using evidence-based methods. My main trainings consist of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Schema Therapy from the Dutch Institute for Schema Therapy. As an umbrella technique to all of these, I use Person-Centered Therapy, also known as Client-Centered Therapy as one of my main techniques.
With a background of being an expat, I possess a unique understanding of the challenges faced by expats and global citizens. I support those struggling with life transitions, the anxiety of adapting to a new environment, and the challenges of moving away from home. Additionally, I assist individuals ready to confront issues such as relationship difficulties, family dynamics, habit-changing, body image concerns, confidence, self-esteem, and career changes.
Along with these challenges, I have experience working with clients with Borderline personality disorder, anxiety, divorce, relationship changes, job and life adaptions, Depression, self-esteem, interpersonal challenges, and familial challenges.
