Hello, I’m Margarida. Let me invite you into a calm and accepting space, where we can navigate your current challenges together. My goal is to help you reconnect with yourself while working toward a meaningful life.
As a psychologist, I pursue learning and knowledge so that I can become a better practitioner. At the same time, I believe that our personal lives play an important role in this profession — and I am someone who wants to enjoy everything life has to offer.
Outside of my psychology practice, I enjoy creating and exploring different forms of expression — writing, dancing, collaging, sculpting, embroidering... Art is an important dimension of my life, and listening to music, watching films, and reading books mean a lot to me.
Nature is also something I value deeply, and I try to integrate it as much as possible into my day-to-day life. I believe we cannot disconnect ourselves from the seasons and natural cycles. As part of this, I increasingly pay attention to the ways our bodies experience the world, as they are our gateway to sensory experience. I value caring for our bodies and learning to listen to them.
I try to approach life with curiosity, openness to experience, and acceptance of different points of view. Each of us is a unique constellation of experiences, memories, and biology, and the best we can do is to look at one another without judgment. I believe in the goodness of people, and that both caring for others and being cared for lie at the core of existence.
My approach is integrative, which means that I adapt the therapeutic process to each person’s needs, values, and life context. I draw from different psychological models, allowing the work we do together to be flexible to what you bring to therapy.
My training has a strong cognitive-behavioural influence, as I explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and how these patterns affect your daily life. Parallel to this, I work within a humanistic framework, placing great importance on genuineness, acceptance, and authenticity in the therapeutic relationship. I believe that feeling seen, heard, and respected is a fundamental part of effective therapy.
I have been running my private clinical practice since November 2025. In parallel, I currently work part-time at ISCSP-UL, providing psychological support and promoting mental health literacy among students and the faculty community. My work includes individual psychological assessment and support, and I have been part of this institution for over a year.
I also completed a clinical internship at the Lisbon Hospital Centre, where I was involved in psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and support for adults. During this internship, I gained experience working with diverse populations, including perinatal care, gender dysphoria, psycho-oncology, and obesity.
I am currently undertaking the following training:
After concluding my master, I have continued to develop my clinical practice through ongoing professional training in different areas of psychology, including:
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology, with an Integrative Cognitive-Behavioural orientation, from the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Lisbon. During my master’s training, I completed a clinical internship at the Lisbon Hospital Centre (Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Ocidental), where I was involved in psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and psychological support for adults. Parallel to this, I wrote a thesis entitled “Co-sleeping in couples: A Systematic Review.”
