My overall approach blends a Jungian psychoanalytic approach, psychodynamics, coaching techniques and somatic awareness, with deep, inherent empathy and intuition. In both psychoanalytic and coaching work, I focus on helping individuals to develop increased self-awareness and understanding of their unconscious personality traits, mindsets, behaviours and patterns - so that these can be integrated, inform conscious attitudes and help to manage life's challenges. This can involve Jungian dreamwork and other Jungian creative approaches (e.g. drawing, painting, music, movement and active imagination), for those who are comfortable with this. It is my strong hope and wish that, through their own psychological development and through gaining greater fulfilment in life, the individuals I work with will in turn be able to play more positive roles within their families, organisations and communities in general. I also seek to empower individuals to be able to make lasting, sustainable changes, without the need for ongoing support.
In psychanalytic engagements, I principally support individuals in relation to:
- dreamwork;
- life and career transitions;
- relationship challenges;
- balancing work and parenthood;
- emotions related to living abroad;
- depression;
- anxiety;
- stress
- low confidence;
- general personal or professional development.
In coaching engagements, typical topics include:
- exploring and implementing career transitions, including moving into leadership or managerial roles, returns from parental leave and complete career changes;
- managing and improving working relationships, including with stakeholders, within teams and people management;
- working through difficulties with low confidence or lack of career direction and motivation;
- improving stress, time and anxiety management;
- managing challenges related to an expatriation or repatriation;
- general professional and communication skills development.
Engagements can also incorporate psychometric and personality assessment tools where helpful, including:
- personality typology (Jung's typology and MBTI);
- Jung's Word Association Test;
- Hogan personality assessments.
