Originally from Israel, I moved to Lisbon on April 24 with my family. I have a partner and 2 daughters here, and we all struggle learning Portuguese. In my homeland I established my private practice and some of my beloved clients are still seeing me online. Here I started meeting clients in-person as part of an overall shift to my new home. Immigrating is one of the most difficult things I ever did, leaving all my friends and family in Israel, Especially in these dread circumstances.
In Israel I studied my BA and MA, did my internship and my expertise. When I was finally an expert, I established a therapist cooperative in Tel Aviv with colleges. We formed a low-budget community clinic, which helped us all evolve professionally. Over the years we accepted interns there and I got to experience the wonderful role of a group-supervisor. I still hold a main role there, supervising online a few interns. I worked with clients from various backgrounds, and have experience with people with various psychiatric diagnoses. I always study, from patients, colleges and books. Moving here teaches me a lot, and that’s maybe the best aspect of this immigration.
I'm registered as a clinical psychologist in Israel, not in Portugal. For that reason I'm listed here as a counselor.
I ride my bicycle around this mountainous city, I practice yoga and I surf. The last is another immigration struggle, as surfing in the strong and cold Atlantic is nothing like the warm and quiet Mediterranean. Like all other aspects of this Journey – it’s a challenge accepted!
