About me

Hello, my name is Durrah and I am a queer-friendly Arab therapist living and working in the Middle East. I am a psychodynamic therapist and mental health professional with a background in neuroscience and neuroimaging. My clinical work is grounded in both scientific understanding and emotional depth, integrating modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Existential Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I hold an Integrated Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of York. Over the years, I have worked with adults navigating a wide range of challenges including mood, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, trauma-related, and personality disorders. I have a particular focus on supporting clients from marginalized and queer communities, emphasizing compassion, respect, and collaboration. Alongside therapy, I specialize in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for treatment-resistant conditions such as depression, OCD, PTSD, and anxiety, blending neuroscience with psychotherapy. My practice extends beyond the therapy room through psychoeducation, writing, and advocacy for mental health awareness. I believe that understanding the brain and mind can empower people to approach healing with curiosity rather than fear.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CBT: Cognitive behavioral therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
EMDRRecommended for those dealing with trauma who want to process painful memories in a structured way to reduce their emotional impact.
Psychodynamic therapyRecommended for those looking to explore their emotions deeply and understand how past experiences shape their present life.
My approach is integrative, relational, and trauma informed. I work primarily from a psychodynamic and attachment based perspective, exploring how early relationships and internalized experiences shape emotional patterns, self perception, and ways of relating to others. Together, we look at how these dynamics might still be influencing your life today. I often integrate techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), somatic practices, and existential approaches to support emotional regulation and self awareness. Depending on the your needs, I may also incorporate psychoeducation about the brain and body’s stress responses, grounding techniques, and mindfulness-based interventions. In sessions, my style is warm, collaborative, and reflective. I believe in meeting clients where they are, moving at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. Therapy with me often involves curiosity, silence, and gentle exploration; allowing space for insight, vulnerability, and growth. I follow your lead. These sessions are yours.

Experience

I work as a psychodynamic therapist at Nasri Jacir Clinic in Amman, providing integrative therapy for adults dealing with mood, anxiety, OCD, personality, and trauma related challenges. I draw on existential, IFS, ACT, EMDR and CBT approaches, with a focus on queer affirming therapy, identity, and relational dynamics. My goal is to collaborate with clients to foster insight, resilience, and emotional balance. Alongside this, I offer freelance Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) services, creating personalized protocols for people with treatment resistant depression, OCD, PTSD, and anxiety. I work closely with psychiatrists and neurologists to combine brain based interventions with psychotherapy, bridging neuroscience and mental health to support lasting change. I also provide neuroscience consulting, conducting clinical evaluations and psychoeducation for individuals with complex cognitive or emotional presentations. I support research and develop accessible educational materials to help patients, families, and professionals connect scientific understanding with compassionate clinical practice.
