I’m a Clinical Psychologist originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, now living and practicing in the Netherlands. My approach to therapy is grounded in warmth, curiosity, and many years of experience supporting people through both everyday struggles and deeply complex life challenges. Over the years, I’ve worked in public psychiatric hospitals, private clinics, and outpatient settings walking alongside individuals as they navigate mental health conditions, grief, trauma, identity, relationship difficulties, workplace stressors and major life transitions. My background in social work complements my training as a psychologist and has strengthened my ability to offer practical, solution-focused support when it’s needed, especially in shorter-term or more goal-oriented work.
Please book a complimentary consultation with me through the calendar provided or alternatively you can contact me via my email address emilywaltonpsych@gmail.com or website emilywaltonpsych.com
My therapeutic approach is holistic and person-centered, aiming to support the whole individual - emotionally, psychologically, and within their broader life context. I generally like to begin with a complimentary 15 minute consultation, where we can meet and get to know one another, think together about your needs and discuss the therapy process.
I tailor therapy to meet each person's unique needs and circumstances. I draw from a range of evidence-based methods, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. I believe that therapy should be a space where you feel heard, supported, and free to explore what matters most to you. Healing can be difficult and I've come to appreciate the importance of having someone walk that journey with you. I take care to shape the process around each person’s unique experience, pace and needs.
