My name is Melanie, and I am a British-trained Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist and certified Life Coach with over 25 years of experience. I began my professional journey within the NHS in London, where I trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and earned my professional accreditation. Having spent my entire career working in mental health—long before it became “trendy”—I bring a wealth of experience, empathy, and curiosity to my work. My approach has always been grounded in the belief that everyone has the capacity for growth and change when given the right tools, understanding, and support.
As a UK citizen who spent much of my childhood abroad, I have a deep appreciation for the complexities of living across cultures. Seventeen years ago, my own journey took me overseas—first to Amsterdam, then to Munich, and eventually back to Amsterdam, where I now live and practice. These experiences have shaped both my personal and professional perspective, giving me insight into the challenges of relocation, identity, and belonging. Over the years, I’ve supported expats, couples, young people, and adults in navigating transitions, building resilience, and finding connection in unfamiliar environments.
In addition to my clinical work, I remain dedicated to ongoing professional and personal development. I regularly attend courses, workshops, and conferences to ensure I stay current with best practices in therapy and coaching. I also receive regular supervision to maintain high standards of reflective and ethical practice. These commitments allow me to bring both professional expertise and a human touch to every session.
My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and practical, designed to help clients feel supported while developing the confidence and skills to create meaningful change. I blend Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Life Coaching to address current challenges while fostering long-term personal growth. CBT focuses on the “here and now,” helping clients recognise how their thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours influence their emotional wellbeing. By challenging unhelpful thinking patterns and developing healthier perspectives, clients can experience genuine relief and lasting transformation.
I see therapy as a partnership—one where honesty, curiosity, and even a touch of humour are welcome. I aim to create a space that feels safe and human, where you can explore both difficulties and strengths without judgment. Many of the people I work with face relationship challenges, whether through conflict, communication struggles, or emotional distance. CBT provides a structured yet flexible framework for improving these dynamics, helping individuals and couples become more present, empathetic, and responsive.
Beyond therapy, I also offer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment, which can be integrated into sessions or taken independently. MBTI fosters greater self-awareness, highlights personal preferences, and deepens understanding in relationships. Whether you’re seeking clarity, connection, or a new way forward, my goal is to help you feel empowered with insight, tools, and resilience to navigate life with confidence.
