About me

I was born and raised in San Francisco, California and earned my Master of Arts in counseling psychology in the Netherlands (NIP #246167). Having lived most of my adult life in Europe (Spain, the Netherlands), I have personal experience as an immigrant/expat/digital nomad. Being an HSP (highly sensitive person) with my own experiences with mental illness, trauma, and chronic pain has given me perspective on healing and growth – we cannot have the light without the shadow. My focus areas include self-compassion, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation. I am passionate about working with people experiencing the effects of anxiety and trauma who are motivated to create the life they want to live. To support my ongoing development as a therapist, I regularly read about therapy topics or approaches I find interesting or want to learn more about and take courses to develop my counseling skills and continue learning more.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
ACT: Acceptance and Commitment TherapyRecommended for those who want to stop fighting negative thoughts and learn how to live with more acceptance and focus on what really matters in life.
Somatic coachingRecommended for those who want to use body awareness and movement to release emotional tension and promote personal growth.
Trauma Informed CareRecommended for those who have experienced trauma and need a safe, supportive space to heal at their own pace.
Utilizing a blend of top-down (cognitive-behavioral) and bottom-up (somatic) approaches, I offer a holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing. I want to provide a safe and supportive space where you can openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or seeking personal growth, we can work together to tap into your well of resilience and self-awareness, and achieve your wellbeing goals. My goal as a therapist is to provide a space for you to understand yourself, improve your relationships, and create meaningful change in your life. I strive to practice in a way that is neurodiversity-affirming, HSP-affirming, introvert-affirming, queer-affirming, and kink-/poly-affirming. Please feel free to visit my website (https://beingwellwithkatie.com/) for more information. You can message me here, or email me at beingwellwithkatie@gmail.com to schedule your free consultation.
