I am a licensed Psychologist from Istanbul, currently based in Amsterdam. I am blessed to be able to understand a wide range of cultural backgrounds. In the past years, I have lived, studied and worked in Poland, the United States of America, Turkiye, Sweden and the Netherlands. Therefore, I have witnessed the many challenges related to the life of an expat, international student and immigrant. I have experience with different cultures and I do work with LGBTQI+ clients.
As the oldest child of an immigrant family, I started working at a very young age (12 years old) and gained experience in different work lines. In addition to my work life, many different volunteer experiences allowed me to work with people from various countries, religions and cultures. Professionally, I have been mostly working as a researcher and lecturer.
After volunteering in women and refugee shelters I decided to devote more of my time to mental health and to help immigrants struggling with taking up residence in a foreign country and/or adapting to a new environment. I know the struggles of being far away from familiar environments and loved ones. There might be a lot of external challenges you cannot change and uncertainties that make you feel like you are losing control and getting more anxious. But I am here to listen to you and help you build a space where you can find meaning.
Also, I have been in therapy for 4 years, I know how challenging for you to take the first step and choose to show up for yourself every day! No matter what you are struggling with, there is always a better way. We got this.
