About me

Hello. I’m Victoria Winfrey, a native English-speaking counselor and therapist based in Amsterdam. Originally from the United States, I’ve lived in Amsterdam for over five years and understand the complexities of expat life abroad. With a Master’s degree in Counseling and Development, I bring over a decade of experience in mental health, personal development, and counseling interventions. My passion for counseling has been fueled by a drive to help adults and adolescents navigate life challenges and transitions, particularly those unique to the expat experience. I understand firsthand the complexities of adapting to a new culture, building a support system, and finding your place in unfamiliar surroundings. I offer counseling services specifically tailored to adults and adolescents in Amsterdam. Services are also friendly to the LGBTQI+ community. My person-centered approach emphasizes empathy, active listening, and collaboration to encourage personal growth. I believe in a personalized approach; respecting each client’s unique history, knowledge, and creative process. Together, we’ll create a safe space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Art therapyRecommended for those who feel more comfortable expressing emotions through creativity and want to explore their feelings through art rather than talking.
CounsellingRecommended for those who want to talk through their emotional challenges with a professional in a safe, supportive environment.
Person-centered approachRecommended for those looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space where they can lead the conversation and explore their feelings at their own pace.
My counseling services offer both talk therapy and creative interventions to form a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or seeking personal growth, therapy can help you gain clarity, strengthen your inner resources, and move forward with greater self-understanding and resilience. - Person-centered counseling offers a non-direct approach to allow clients to focus on what is important to them. By providing empathy and the absence of judgement, the client can better explore themselves while discovering their own internal resources. Throughout time, self-discovery and growing confidence help clients gain more control over their lives and overcome their own problems. - Sandtray therapy is a creative, expressive therapeutic approach that uses a tray of sand and miniature figures and objects to help explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences – often beyond what words can express. Creative interventions are suited for both adults and teens. - Expressive arts therapy is a creative, integrative form of therapy that invites you to explore emotions, thoughts, and experiences through art-making. No artistic skill is needed, only a willingness to express yourself. There is no judgment; creations are powered by the process and not the goal of creating specific art. Rather than focusing on the final product, expressive arts therapy values the process of creation as a pathway to insight, healing, and self-discovery.
