About me

** starting October 2024 I am running group therapy on transgenerational trauma. We still have few places left. Apply by sending an email!** I am a therapist, an artist, a dancer, a lover, a writer, a thinker, a feeler. I live and work in Amsterdam. I grew up in Lithuania. Having lived in Lithuania the first 18 years of my life and then moving to the Netherlands has raised many identity related questions - who I am? where do I belong? do I belong? - which I continue to live through, find ground and then lose it again, ad infinitum. This experience informs my work as a therapist and the themes that I work with - migration, identity, exile (literal and figurative), belonging. I am a searching person, noticing ebbs and flows of my life, of being born and dying again. This curiosity brought me to clinical psychology and to the world of therapy - I like to explore and understand myself and the world around me. It is becoming increasingly clear to me how our environment (our family, society, culture) is interconnected with our personal experiences; often psychological symptoms are a reflection of broader societal phenomena like capitalism, all forms of oppression, military conflicts. I like to keep that perspective in mind in my life and also in therapy. I love to move, I dance regularly and attend movement classes and workshops. I find that moving and dancing makes me a better therapist and a better human.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Gestalt therapyRecommended for those who want to focus on the present and take responsibility for their feelings and actions to promote personal growth.
Group therapyRecommended for those who want to work through their challenges in a supportive group setting and learn from others who share similar experiences.
As a therapist, I am grounded in humanistic and Gestalt therapy tradition, meaning that your experience and the relationship between us are central to our work. I see therapy as a space to explore together what is going on, even if we do not know what it is, yet. Even if there are no words, yet. The unknown is where we need to be, where new life is born, where change happens, a fertile ground. I do not have all the answers. What I am good at is staying with not knowing. Staying there with you. Staying with pain and suffering that sometimes feels too big. Welcoming all that there is – love, sadness, pain, hate, anger, confusion. Together we create space for dialogue, for being together, with respect, collaboratively, with patience and plenty of time for whatever there is to unfold. Often experiences of anxiety, loss of motivation, low or fluctuating mood and energy are symptoms of a larger issue. It can be questions related to self-esteem, identity, attachment trauma, big life changes, lack of a sense of belonging, grief. I see suffering as a gateway & an invitation to pain. And once we welcome pain, what is uncomfortable and difficult, transformation happens. And you do not have to do it alone, I am right there with you. So wherever you are in your life now, we can explore it together. ~ I work using Gestalt Therapy approach which centers around awareness, body(sensing), and understanding how certain patterns, unfulfilled needs, unfinished situations are present in the here-and-now. Gestalt Therapy is an art of being present with whatever there is. I invite you to book a free online introductory call (~20min) so we can get to know each other a little before starting therapy. If you decide to go for it, we will schedule our first session. Usually I meet clients once a week or on a bi-weekly basis. I work on a short-term and long-term basis - we can together decide what is a good fit for you. And you can stop at any time of course!
