Hello, I’m Chara ("Hara") 🤍 I know starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and I'm here to offer a warm and compassionate space where we can reflect, process, and navigate life’s challenges together, at your own pace.
I grew up in Cyprus and trained in the UK and Spain in psychology, clinical psychology, and neuroscience.
For me, therapy is a process where you feel safe to slow down, reflect, and explore your inner world, free from the pressure to have everything figured out. Together, we can explore what feels heavy and also what feels meaningful. My goal is to walk alongside you as you navigate life in a way that feels right for you.
A bit about my clinical experience, I have worked in clinical, research and community mental health settings, and have supported individuals with anxiety, disordered eating, low mood, body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria, trauma-related difficulties, acculturation stress due to migration, and other life transitions.
Living across countries has shaped me deeply. The dance between navigating challenge, culture shock, and growing through it all, inspired my passion for supporting others through life transitions. I'm particularly interested in how our cultures, life experiences, and relationships have influenced how we understand ourselves, how we relate to other people, and how we navigate the world. Working with people from diverse backgrounds has been a truly meaningful part of this as it reinforces that every person is unique in a nuanced, and complex way. This is beautifully captured by my favourite phrase in Spanish "cada persona es un mundo" - "every person is a world".
My approach is integrative and person-centered and I tend to work in a focused and goal-oriented way. Depending on your needs, therapy may involve shorter-term work focused on a particular goal or difficulty, or longer-term exploration and personal growth. Together, we can decide what approach and pace feel most helpful for you.
In my work, I mainly draw from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques, integrating elements from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Internal Famly Systems (IFS). I aim to figure out collaboratively the therapeutic approach you need.
Generally, my goal is to walk alongside you as we explore your inner world together and identify patterns in your thoughts and behaviours while understanding the specific context you are in. I aim to help you untangle internal conflicts, understand how different "parts" of yourself may show up, and help you learn how to work with them.
In sessions with me, you can expect a balance between reflection and practical work. Depending on your needs, some sessions may focus on exploring or understanding your patterns or processing past experiences, while at other times it may involve identifying strategies, changes, or small action plans. I aim to adapt to what you need, ultimately helping you feel more grounded, self-aware and empowered in responding to your experiences.
