My passion is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), meaning you and I will work together to both figure out what’s lead to any problems you may be experiencing and what tools may be helpful to manage them. However, with mental health “one size fits all” rarely works, so my approach is integrative: Therefore, we will likely draw on tools from CBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focussed Therapy and similar approaches, depending on what you are currently dealing with.
The idea is that, if we work well together, at the end of treatment you will no longer need me, as you would have become your own therapist, with a toolbox full of strategies to help you maintain your progress.
Having worked in mental health in the NHS for over five years, I have experience working with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, panic, phobias, OCD and PTSD. I specialise in trauma, therefore, if you feel your problem is the result of difficult experiences or events, we will take a gradual approach of making sense of your experiences. Especially if you experience strong feelings of shame, guilt, or anxiety, we will ensure that we will approach therapy at a pace you feel comfortable at. I offer a safe, non-judgmental space with the aim to allow you to discuss any difficult thoughts and experiences.
Supervision
Alongside my work in the NHS, I am a Programme Director on a Postgraduate Course, training and supervising aspiring Cognitive Behavioural Therapists. I offer a reflective space for supervision to CBT Therapists, who work both privately and within the NHS.
