About me

I completed my education as a psychologist at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philosophy, and my education as a Gestalt therapist at the Belgrade Gestalt Institute. I am very integrative in my approach, and am especially fond of body/somatic therapy, as well as psychoanalysis. This is why I tend to read authors that come from these orientations, as well as attend their trainings and superivision groups. Before sitching to therapy alone, I've worked with refugees, providing "psychological first aid" as part of crisis intervention teams for various NGOs. I completed a one year internship at the Neurology Clinic, which was an invaluable experience and a great opportunity to learn and grow. I also have experience working as a teacher with children and adults, as well as working as an onboarding and development manager. I'm currently based in Belgrade, Serbia, working online and in person, but currently only taking on online clients. Also, I am a refugee myself - my family moved from Croatia to Serbia in 1995, due to the Balkan wars. I've also lived abroad in my adult life - in Vietnam and in Egypt, which led to me focusing on "the expat experience" in my final Gestalt therapy thesis.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Clinical psychologyRecommended for those who need help with diagnosing and treating more complex mental health issues, often involving assessments and evidence-based treatments.
Gestalt therapyRecommended for those who want to focus on the present and take responsibility for their feelings and actions to promote personal growth.
My approach is tailored to my clients, their needs, and their goals. People who come to therapy very often come to us because they are, in one way or another, feeling stuck in a certain area of their lives. This is often followed by a sense of shame. Together, we start by determining where it is they're stuck, and where they would like to be, if the process of therapy were to work for them. What is crucial is the relationship between the client and the therapist, a relationship through which the clients ultimately learn to be "good enough therapists" to themselves. Learning to tune into oneself, to regulate our emotions and give ourselves comfort, to develop mindfulness and to observe oneself objectively and compassionately, are some of the main things I focus on in my day-to-day practice. This all allows for greater self-acceptance, which in turn reduces shame and lets us become the best versions of what we already are.
