Dörte Stanek

Body psychotherapist

I support you in shifting reoccurring patterns and limiting beliefs so that you feel empowered to create the life you want for yourself.

About

Im trained in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University (Colorado, USA) and I have been working with individuals and groups for 8 years. In the US, I worked with families in schools and the health care system. For the past 5 years, I have been in private practice in Berlin and I have been running movement based mindfullness groups for women.

In my work, I support individuals that are feeling stuck in reoccuring patterns that dont seem to shift. These patterns show up as depression, stressfull relationships, low self esteem, aloneness, anxiety, not having a direction in life.

My Approach

In my work, I use elements of mindfullness, expressive art and body psychotherapy. In my practice, working with the body plays a vital role in the process of shifting long held patterns and beliefs and repairing stress responses. A typical session is a mix of talk and focused body awareness.

You dont need any kind of experince working with the body. I integrate different modalities according to what you need in each session. In this way, sessions are a creative process that help foster emotional and physical awareness.

Somatic Counseling Psychology addresses the entire person, taking into account that memories of feelings are stored in the body and that those memories inform the way we think and perceive the world. This approach is particularly helpful for relational difficulties, trauma and the wish to feel and express feelings.

I provide non-judgemental, kind and compassionate support. I see myself as a guide and you as the expert of your inner world. Together we create and discover your journey to well-being.
