About me

I am a somatic coach and alternative practitioner for psychotherapy and have been working with people for over 15 years. I have always been particularly inspired by utopians. People who want to make the world a better place. People who want to make a difference. From peace education I found my way to the theater, from the theater to bodywork. In life I have encountered relationships that hold, that wobble, that break, that touch, that move and that anchor. And everywhere I have met people who were sometimes overwhelmed, sometimes bored, sometimes hurt, sometimes ashamed, sometimes foaming with rage or exhausted. I'm curious how we can manage to do this, - the being human and at the same time wanting so much-, in a way that we can move, stand up for something and feel everything human without losing ourselves in the process. How we can enter into relationships without giving up on ourselves. Create something together and integrate our own needs, wishes and dreams. This question follows me in my own development as well as in accompanying those utopians who come to me to be supported part of the way. Uniting the sometimes seemingly contradictory sensations, feelings and desires within oneself or even just perceiving and sorting them out is often the first step towards healing and regeneration. I grew up in Berlin, a still divided city, with separated parents and a sister. Later I moved out into the world, lived, studied and worked in Randers (DK), Chemnitz, Odense (DK), New York (USA), Berlin, Karlsruhe and Copenhagen (DK). I love the diversity that comes from experiencing one's own life in different languages. Since 2018 I have been back in Berlin, living with my two children and my wonderful husband and I sometimes miss Danish. In 2017 I wrote a book: "Everyday Presence - A personal description"

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Body therapyRecommended for those who want to connect their mind and body to release stress or trauma through physical sensations and movement.
CoachingRecommended for those who want support and motivation to achieve personal or professional goals, often with a structured, goal-oriented approach.
Somatic coachingRecommended for those who want to use body awareness and movement to release emotional tension and promote personal growth.
Every person I work with is unique and different in their nature. At the same time, we are all human beings, we all have a body and therefore very basic needs that we have to satisfy in order to live. And we are social beings who are connected to other people in some way. That is my starting point. In a mixture of conversation, body awareness exercises, breathwork and touch, I look with my clients at their lives, their challenges and their wishes. We learn how they perceive their bodies, what they experience with the body around them and in their relationships. Together we open up a space in which they can digest old pain, sort out tricky situations or have new experiences. Anchoring in the body and a trusting collaboration are the most important prerequisites for courageously and sustainably tackling issues that arise. I believe that we cannot always choose which issue is important, but we can (co-)shape how we deal with what we encounter. We can get support and strengthen our own resources. We can learn to perceive what is currently tying up our attention and energy and what we would like to have more attention and energy for. Sometimes we need a little more space to think, sometimes we need an unusual movement, sometimes the inner and outer peace to really relax... I offer to think, feel and experiment together. And to support you in learning where you actually are and what becomes important when you become aware of that. If you want to get to know my voice and like to try things out yourself, you can listen to a few body awareness exercises here. https://soundcloud.com/ninia-schwan and here https://soundcloud.com/ninia-schwan/sets/basic-training
