About me

I specialize in the areas of stress, burnout, compassion fatigue*, and secondary trauma**. I often work with people in helping professions and caregiving roles, though most of my clients simply feel drawn to my approach because they want to change their tendency of putting the needs of other people first.

I myself have worked in the helper system (with kids & youth, refugees, and people in rehabilitation) and have experienced the obstacles we face when we want to stay healthy while doing our important work in this world.

Next to my one on one work in my private online practice and through an employee assistance program called ifeel, I have a part-time role dedicated to working with people who are dealing with transitioning into new work roles.

While I'd describe myself as an introvert, I thrive on connecting with people one-on-one. I've spent many years abroad and live in a binational relationship. I work in English and German and speak Spanish on a conversational level.

Walking my own talk is something that is important to me, and I'm doing my best to take good care of myself while I care for others. If I'm not passionately working on my vision, you’ll find me on my yoga mat, reading, writing for Elephant Journal, skinny-dipping, or taking a walk in one of Berlin’s parks.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
MeditationMeditation is a practice to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.
MindfulnessMindfulness is the process of maintaining a purposeful moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surrounding environment.
Trauma informed careRecommended for those who have experienced trauma and need a safe, supportive space to heal at their own pace.

In our sessions, we create something together. While I might be the one who is knowledgeable in my specific field and can offer you useful tools and insights, you're the expert on your own personal experiences.

I strongly believe in the connection between mind and body, and my holistic approach is influenced by my background in mindfulness and yoga. I work in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and feminist way, which includes looking at the systems and resources you live and work in.

This is important because helping professions (especially the ones that are not compensated fairly) are systemically still 'women’s work' and caregiving roles and tasks in our families are still distributed unequally.

What I'm offering you in our sessions is something I’ve found to be helpful when I go to therapy myself: A non-judgmental, honest, and open-minded space where my presence leaves room for you to explore whatever you need to explore, gently nudging you to go deeper.

Our therapy process aims to meet your individual needs, and may bridge the gap between your past experiences and the here and now.

If this is something you may connect with, contact me here or via hello@rebekkalehmann.com for a free 30-min exploration call to get to know each other and see if we're a good fit.

Our sessions last 60 min and may be reimbursed by your employer. I'm part of the Employee Assistance Program of It's complicated. You can find out if this might be an option for you here: https://complicated.life/en/for-companies

Finally, if you like, grab your weekly dose of self-care here: https://rebekkalehmann.com/signup/

  • Compassion fatigue describes the physical, emotional, and psychological impact of helping others — resulting in a diminished ability to help. ** Secondary trauma is the emotional stress that results when someone (repeatedly) hears about the firsthand traumatic experiences of a survivor.
