My approach is holistic, person-centered, and rooted in empathy and respect. My approach draws from various treatment modalities, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, Schema therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In practice, this means I'll let you lead sessions and will devote my attention to furthering my understanding of you as a person, while also offering my thoughts and observations. Most central to the therapeutic process is our therapeutic alliance, which is why I encourage us to examine our working relationship in the here-and-now.
For me, the process of providing therapy is one of continuously deepening my understanding of your inner (and outer) world through nonjudgmental listening and careful attention. As we develop a shared language, we'll be able to examine what role your symptoms and painful patterns play in your life, opening up a space in which new and exciting choices can be made. Though our aim will be to solve present-day problems, I do encourage clients to revisit early childhood experiences, as this is where many coping mechanisms are developed in response to unmet needs.
I welcome clients of any background or identity. I'm particularly experienced with issues around neurodiversity, queerness, and polyamory, but I'd always rather understand how you relate to a specific concept rather than make assumptions.
I offer a free online consultation to see if we're a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you!
