Clinical Psychologists adopt a “scientist-practitioner” approach, meaning that our work is informed by empirical research. I believe in the potential in all of us to adapt and evolve. Sometimes this involves learning new skills, and sometimes this is a matter of processing difficult events. Counselling is a creative endeavour which can be challenging, but also fun!
My vocational training and post-training employment involved working in various healthcare settings (including acute psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry, primary care psychology, child and adolescent psychiatric services, early intervention for toddlers with developmental disabilities and their families, and school and residential services for adolescents and adults with intellectual disability). Parallel to my therapeutic work, I work as a lecturer and research associate in Brandenburg.
