My desire for gaining a deep understanding of intimate relationship dynamics has lead me to EFT (emotionally-focused therapy). EFT is an evidence-based therapy model that is grounded in attachment theory. From the EFT point of view, we are built to connect, to depend on each other when struggling and to seek closeness. Sometimes, as we seek these things in relationships, we end up locked in a negative cycle with our partner where our actions generate further disconnection instead of connection. In my practice, I will help you identify how your personal negative cycle works and what perpetuates it. I will also support you in gradually shifting the way you relate, so you can encounter eachother with more compassion, and feel loved for who you are and what you bring to the relationship.
[currently not accepting any more individual clients - I'm at capacity! - so the following doesn't apply atm]
I work both with couples* and also with individuals, in case only one part of the couple feels ready to seek help.
Being in a romantic relationship isn't a prerequisite for working with me though! You're equally welcome to contact me as a single person.
Methods and psychological constructs that especially inform my work with individual clients are body-oriented systemic therapy, neurobiology, mindfulness, self-compassion, somatic yoga, and differential/personality psychology. With the help of these, I want to help you finding how to get out of patterns of thought, behaviour and emotion that don't serve you. Topics I work with are, among others, depression, anxiety, grief, self-confidence and sexual issues.
