Before settling in Berlin, I was trained as a psychiatrist (University of Chile) and psychodynamic psychotherapist (Tiefenpsychotherapie in German) in Chile. I have years of experience in the treatment of various emotional and mental health ailments, griefs, separations, anxiety and mood disorders, among others. Since 10 years living in Berlin, and in addition to research I dedicate part of my time to offer individual psychotherapy for adults and adolescents.
Regarding research I have authored several articles on mindfulness, emotion regulation, self-compassion, autism, borderline personality, attachment, heart rate variability, brain functioning, etc.
I have taught mindfulness and self-compassion workshops for more than 15 years, both in English and Spanish. To different populations.
I consider myself a curios beginner regarding human suffering and the many ways we can (learn to) thrive and have a life that's worth living.
In my work I combine an appreciation of the human being as a unique being, authentic and worthy in itself, embedded in a history, relational matrix and culture(s). I am also informed by current neuropsychology approaches to embodiment, empathy, emotion regulation and mentalizing. So far, I integrate relational psychoanalysis, psychodynamic, cognitive, and mindfulness and compassion-based interventions. I consider psychotherapy an inherently creative and relational process of exploration and learning.
