I'm a passionate Gestalt therapist with a medical background and what I love about the therapeutic Gestalt approach is how lively and experiential it is.
I'm a doctor in my first profession and was working in internal medicine, oncology, etc., but started to feel that I am missing an important part of the healing process only treating the body. So I began my training in Gestalt therapy and connected both paths when working as a doctor in a psychosomatic clinic. Since beginning of 2026 I started my own practice in Berlin and am working there since, doing sessions with individuals, groups and doing workshops. Also after my training in Gestalt therapy was finished I became a teacher in my former Gestalt institute and am in charge of the member committee and will also start teaching a year of students soon.
In my private life I live in Berlin after growing up in Stuttgart and studying medicine in Cologne. In my early 30s I cycled from Germany to India with my bicycle, seeing and experiencing a lot of different people and cultures, a time in my life that really left an impression on me. Nowadays I like it a bit more quiet, but am still quite into the nature and into connecting with people, doing sports or reading inspiring books.
A session might look like this:
To begin with, we work together to identify what the main focus of the current session is and what we will then continue to work with. In doing so, we rely on the Gestalt principle that whatever is currently ‘on the agenda’ for one’s own development – and also for which one may well have the capacity at that very moment – will reveal itself and come to the fore. The topic can then take on a wide variety of forms and vary in scope, and may also differ from session to session and from person to person. We then give this topic more space and enter into a process that, so to speak, unfolds itself by moment. This, too, can take many different forms and develop to varying degrees; it may take place more on a verbal level or more on a physical level. In some sessions, there are also many small processes.
And are all the problems solved in the end?
Well, sometimes an issue can be resolved internally and sort itself out, but that isn’t always the case. Some processes take time; they need to be woven into everyday life to be fully integrated, or they aren’t yet ‘ready’ to be completely resolved. All these scenarios are perfectly fine and completely normal. What is true in the vast majority of cases is that the therapy leads to greater awareness of oneself, of one’s own inner processes and of one’s body signals. And that this awareness can lead to greater scope for action, freedom of choice and independence.
General information about the approach:
My sessions provide a framework and space to experiment, examine, play, find clarity, process, let go, move forward, or simply be. The body is taken seriously in its sensations and movements and is also part of the whole process. It can help us as a guide or can be a resonating body to understand things on a deeper level. Changes become tangible, real and achievable.
We work together on the issues that are currently most pressing and follow the flow that emerges. Often, the issues lead back to a past experience or to a very present one, which we can then examine and explore from different perspectives, sometimes even quite literally. This allows the issues to gain clarity. When an "open" issue can be "closed" (and this can take many different forms), it is also said that an "open gestalt" closes – hence the name "Gestalt therapy."
Immersing ourself in our own potential and truly be with ourself and each other – for me, this often feels just magical and is what makes Gestalt therapy so special. Ultimately, for me, Gestalt therapy means aliveness, growth, freedom, and self-responsibility, all held and rootet in love.
I currently work in my private therapy practice in Berlin-Kreuzberg, first part-time while working in a psychosomatic medicine clinic as a doctor and therapist for 2 years, then full time since the beginning of 2026.
I also gained experience in internal medicine, working for 2,5 years in 2 different hospitals in Cologne and Stuttgart with a broad range of specialties, e.g. cardiology, gastroenterology and oncology, before I decided to take a break and go on an around-the-world trip with my bicycle.
Gestalt- and Bodypsychotherapist at the Gestalt-Institut Frankfurt a.M. from 2021-2025. Before that I had studied medicine and finished with my Staatsexamen in 2015, completing my medical doctoral thesis (Dr. med.) in 2017. My school education was close to Stuttgart with primary school, continuing Gymnasium.
