Hi, I'm Sophie Frost, a psychodynamic psychotherapist, writer and founder of The Primrose Practice (Berlin and online), offering psychotherapy in English in Berlin and online.
I completed my clinical training and Master’s degree in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust in London. I have over ten years' of experience working therapeutically with adults, both in private practice and specialist mental health settings.
I founded The Primrose Practice to offer thoughtful, depth-oriented psychotherapy in English in Berlin and online. My work is psychodynamic and attachment-based, with particular interest in relationships, recurring patterns, identity, anxiety, depression and periods of transition or change.
I believe meaningful therapy involves more than symptom management. It offers a space to become curious about the patterns beneath our difficulties, how they developed, and what they may be communicating about the way we relate to ourselves and others.
The first step is an initial call to see whether we’re a good fit. From there, we can think together about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to understand or change.
My approach is primarily psychodynamic and attachment-based. This means paying attention not only to immediate symptoms or difficulties, but to the patterns, relationships and experiences that may lie beneath them. Where useful, I also draw on a broader understanding of neurobiology and can incorporate more practical strategies, particularly when day-to-day functioning is part of the difficulty.
We usually meet weekly, either online or in my Berlin practice. This regular rhythm allows us to move beneath the surface, exploring the repetitive groans and shifting frequencies of the “whale song within”. Beneath the immediacy of symptoms and crises, each of us carries an inner story, sometimes buried, sometimes unreachable for good reason. Together, we can begin to understand these histories and the ways they continue to shape present experience and relationships.
My work is grounded in rigorous clinical training, long-term personal analysis and more than a decade of therapeutic experience. I continue to develop my practice through ongoing study, supervision and advanced clinical training, while remaining rooted in the psychoanalytic tradition and the importance of the therapeutic relationship.
