Irish therapist and counsellor offering English-language therapy in Berlin. I provide a warm, genuine space to explore experiences, emotions, and parts of yourself that may linger just beyond awareness.
I am a fully qualified counsellor, educated to Master's level and registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). Based at my office in Mitte, Berlin, I offer face-to-face and online English-speaking therapy. I also offer online counselling and psychotherapy to clients across the UK and Ireland.
I was born in Northern Ireland and raised in a society shaped by the legacy of conflict and its effects across generations. Growing up, I became increasingly interested in how our experiences influence the way we see ourselves and relate to others. This led me to question the idea that distress reflects something inherently wrong within us. Instead, I have come to understand people as unique individuals whose ways of being emerge through their relationships, environments, and life experiences—a perspective that lies at the heart of my therapeutic work.
Over the past decade, I have lived in Thailand, England, Ireland, and now Berlin. I know deeply the challenges that can accompany relocation: loneliness, identity shifts, questions of belonging, and the task of building a life in a new country.
Alongside these challenges, periods of transition can also create opportunities for growth, self-discovery, and change. This understanding sits at the heart of my practice. As a therapist, I aim to be a fellow traveller alongside my clients as they explore their experiences, deepen their self-understanding, and reconnect with aspects of themselves that may have been hidden, denied, or overlooked.
I love this work: connecting deeply with and supporting others to discover greater clarity, self-awareness and authenticity is both a privilege and the reason I became a therapist.
It is my belief that each of us possesses a wealth of inner resources, wisdom, and an innate capacity to move towards what is right for us. Psychological well-being comes from the ability to be in contact with our experience and, perhaps more importantly, to trust it. Yet being human involves a constant balancing act: navigating our inner world whilst responding to the demands of relationships, work, family, and society.
Over time, these competing demands can leave us disconnected from ourselves in ways that are not always immediately apparent. We may find ourselves living to please others, censoring parts of who we are, or becoming consumed by work and responsibility. As we drift further from our authentic experience, there is often a quiet—or sometimes loud—sense that something is not right. We may attempt to manage this discomfort through alcohol, drugs, exercise, achievement, or countless other ways of coping, yet a deeper sense of peace remains elusive. Therapy often begins when something within us longs for a more authentic and fulfilling way of being.
My role as a therapist is not to provide answers, but to help you reconnect with your own experience and develop greater trust in yourself. I aim to offer a genuine, accepting, and exploratory relationship in which you can safely examine whatever emerges. I will be real with you throughout this process. I may gently draw attention to contradictions, recurring patterns, aspects of experience that seem difficult to acknowledge, or share how I experience you in the room.
I believe that meaningful change emerges through relationship. When we feel sufficiently understood, accepted, and free to explore ourselves honestly, experiences that have remained hidden, denied, or outside awareness can begin to emerge. In their place often comes greater clarity, self-trust, confidence, and a deeper capacity for authentic connection with others.
I work with individuals from all backgrounds, cultures, faiths, beliefs, and identities. I welcome people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. My aim is to provide a respectful, affirming, and non-judgemental therapeutic space where you can explore your experiences freely and be accepted as you are.
I have over five years' experience working across the mental health and counselling professions in both public healthcare and private practice settings. During this time, I have supported individuals experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, loss and bereavement, eating distress, trauma, and more complex or enduring psychological difficulties.
Alongside my clinical work, I have developed a deep appreciation for the many ways people respond to adversity and life transitions. Working with individuals from diverse backgrounds has reinforced my belief that distress is often an understandable response to difficult circumstances rather than a sign of personal deficiency. This perspective continues to inform my therapeutic practice and my commitment to meeting each client with compassion, curiosity, and respect.
