About me

I was born and raised in Norway and have lived away from my home country for more than half of my adult life, and in Berlin since 2011.

My broad experience with people from different cultures and contexts in all walks of life has prepared me to understand and help persons with complex and multi-layered challenges.

As a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst, I welcome both international as well as German clients, either at my practice in Berlin or online.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CounsellingRecommended for those who want to talk through their emotional challenges with a professional in a safe, supportive environment.
PsychoanalysisRecommended for those who want to explore how their unconscious mind and early experiences affect their current behaviors and feelings.
Psychodynamic therapyRecommended for those looking to explore their emotions deeply and understand how past experiences shape their present life.

My approach to therapy is grounded in psychodynamics, where I help clients look beyond symptoms like depression, anxiety, or burnout to uncover the underlying mental processes that contribute to them. These processes, often shaped by early relational experiences, can create patterns that may be dysfunctional or harmful, which we sometimes continue to repeat in adulthood.

Life challenges—such as moving, a breakup, a new job, health issues, or loss—can bring these old patterns to the surface, leading to distress and emotional pain. I support clients in gaining insight into their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as the conflicts they may generate. This awareness makes it easier to make more informed decisions and build healthier relationships.

A central part of my work is providing a safe, empathetic space where clients can explore difficult emotions and thoughts. While I offer support and understanding, I also aim to provide clarity and insight.

The length and scope of the counseling process will depend on your individual needs, goals, and the complexity of your situation. For therapy to be effective, regular sessions are typically necessary.

In our introductory session, we will take time to get to know each other and find out if there is a "match". If it makes sense for both of us to continue, we will discuss the structure of the process and tailor it to your specific needs and goals. I offer a 50% discount for the introductory session.
