I believe, and gestalt therapy says, that only through contact someone can change. Contact is the interaction that someone have with the world, and through it is possible to feel, act and reflect on experiences that make sense in a person's life. Only after contact the world and having awareness of what's going on around and with you that an individual can decide if they want to change. Just you can give yourself the possibility of develop, learn and mature, in a continuum of growth.
This growth is each person's unique process which means that the author of the process is always you; it's you who identifies the painful and pleasurable aspects of yours experience; you are the one who feels how things imply pain and knows when things start to get better. The therapist is, in this process, your companion on the journey.
