About me

Six years ago, I moved from Mexico to Berlin with my dog to study a master’s degree in Clinical psychology. As a Mexican with French roots, I have always been curious about the complex process in which humans develop a clear and unique perspective about themselves and their identity. As you and other 881,000 voluntary and involuntary migrants in Berlin, the ups and downs of my adaptation to Germany has left some marks and jewels in my emotional garden. Even though the theory from a postgraduate program was undoubtably valuable for my work as a counselor, I believe I have learnt more about human nature by mindfully experiencing mundane acts of life like cooking with friends, watching movies, playing volleyball, reading books, observing animals, and having the occasional discussion with critical German strangers.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Clinical psychologyRecommended for those who need help with diagnosing and treating more complex mental health issues, often involving assessments and evidence-based treatments.
CounsellingRecommended for those who want to talk through their emotional challenges with a professional in a safe, supportive environment.
PsychoanalysisRecommended for those who want to explore how their unconscious mind and early experiences affect their current behaviors and feelings.
Why do think you suffer the way you do? As Bob Dylan sang " I contain multitudes" my approach to psychological distress is to consider that there are at least two parts of the person that are in conflict. Sometimes conscious, sometimes unconscious, the conflict can be regarding the struggle to reconcile contradictory impulses like autonomy and submission. Other times suffering may come from the endeavor to satisfy opposed needs for change and for permanence. Whatever the internal conflict may be, my job is to sit with you, think with you, and from time to time to flash a light which might help you find your way in the cave. In a way the aim of my work, like Gabor Mate said, is not that you feel better, but that you get better at feeling.

Experience

Since 2023 I have been working as a Resiliency Counselor providing emotional support in individual sessions, resiliency training, and group crisis intervention for the employees of a private company. From 2022 I have been working as an online private counselor, mainly for people with latin american background that have migrated or are planning to do so. During 2020 to 2023 I worked as a Specialist in emotional care and social skills development for children and families in the context of social work. Throughout 2018 I worked as Talent Advisor doing assessments of cultural environment, development of workshops and individual coaching to managers.

Education

In October 2020 I studied an MA in Clinical psychology with a focus in Psychoanalysis. It was a two year postgraduate program at the International University of Berlin composed by theory, research and an internship in the Psychosomatic Day Clinic at Vivantes hospital. The subject of my Master Thesis was about the evidence on the child-pet relationship and its effect on development of social behavior. From 2013 to 2017 I studied a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. During my time in the bachelors I had the opportunity to work 7 internships in different institutions ranging from an orphanage to a psychiatric jail. In addition, I also worked 400 hours of social service in a school for children with disabilities. Leading to more than 1,500 hours of experience in my Bachelor alone.
