Hello, my name is Fanny Sophia (though most people call me Fanny, feel free to call me Sophia if you prefer). I’m a Psychologist, Behavioral Therapist in training at the Psychological Academy Berlin (PHB), and Neuroscientist at the Max Planck School of Cognition (PhD Candidate) working in outpatient care and research.
After completing my Bachelor's in Psychology, I pursued a Master's in Clinical and Molecular Neuroscience Research. This academic and interdisciplinary journey has provided me with an analytical mindset and competencies that enable me to explore the intricacies underpinning behavior, emotion, and cognition. With a strong foundation in both psychological and medical expertise, I use a combination of behavioral, psychodynamic, and systemic approaches to provide practical tools that help clients grow, heal, and build resilience.
Beyond my clinical work, I am dedicated to research on the neurobiological aspects of mental health, particularly in the areas of brain plasticity, pharmacology and psychedelics as innovative treatments. My research includes studying how psilocybin may help alleviate depression by targeting the serotonergic 5-HT2A receptor, as well as examining the effects of binaural beats on brain function and plasticity. I am passionate about integrating my knowledge in therapy practice through scientific rigor, analytical competence and intuitive, client-centered approach.
Through my knowledge of cutting-edge research and therapeutic techniques, I strive to bridge the gap between science, psychology and philosophy. One of the most valuable tools in my work is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps foster cognitive flexibility, resilience, and personal growth.
My goal is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the mind, helping to navigate present challenges while also disentangling deeper layers of core beliefs that shape emotions, cognition, and behaviour, aiming to foster healing and psychological well-being.
