In my work as a systemic therapist, I understand problems as formerly meaningful attempts to solve and adapt to difficulties in life. Problems, in short, are solutions which no longer work. Our work together will enable you to question dysfunctional interactions and social structures, as well as rigid and restrictive narratives.
My solution-focused approach is geared towards the future. Still, together we look at your lived experiences. At the beginning of systemic therapy, we discuss your life story and your challenges, and identify your resources and goals, with the aim to develop new strategies for the future.
During the therapeutic process, I will support you to make informed decisions based on your resources and resilience, in improving your self-organization and in empowering you to live the life you want to lead. Rather than looking at your problems in isolation, we understand them within their context, which may have been a difficult life situation, or simply the desire to live a better life.
Imaginative and solution-oriented methods that involve your thoughts, actions and feelings will enable you to change your perspective, and bring clarity to your social relationships. Ingrained behavioural cycles are interrupted so that you can become aware of patterns that may have become a prison, leading a new ability to bring about change.
I also offer horse-assisted psychotherapy and coaching in Potsdam, an extremely effective therapy approach when working with trauma. As herd and prey animals, horses react extremely sensitively, empathically and without judgment to non-verbally expressed human emotions. They allow us to become aware of sentiments we had no idea we were experiencing.
