My name is Tanya Levinson and I am a contextual behavioural therapist. We get tangled up in our heads way too much, and I can be Sherlock Holmes for the curious case of your problematic cognitions.
I am trained to work with a wide range of concerns and am here to support you with a number of diagnoses. I am particularly interested in issues of identity, help you live with anxiety, and adapt to life changes. My main approach is cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and I also use instruments of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a third-wave CBT approach, and I have studied with the world’s leading ACT trainer, Russ Harris. ACT is all about accepting what’s happening and making sure you still follow your values with commitment, and I think it’s a beautiful philosophy. ACT is a contextual behavioural therapy, meaning that we will always view your thoughts and actions in context, and I am ready to dive deep into the context of your life.
I am an immigrant who lived in five countries, a researcher in developmental cognitive neuroscience, a writer, and an International Business graduate with a past career in tech startups: I have faced burnout, massive life changes, and grief, and I hope I can be there for you to support you if you’re going through any of this or more. All kinds of matters worry us, make us lose sleep, make us feel unsafe. I am here to give you a very safe space where you can share anything. I will be there for you to help you understand what’s happening a bit better so you don’t lose touch with reality. The cognitive model will guide us, but we will also explore the larger context, your values and goals, and how past and future fuse to stop you from noticing the present.
I have been working with clients in private practice since October 2024. I also have experience as a researcher in developmental psychology (University of Padua, University of Copenhagen, University of Trento) and as an educator (Basisschool De Springplank Brugge).
