Online therapy in English & Spanish for expats and adults navigating anxiety, loss, identity, and life transitions. Psychoanalytic approach. Warm, honest, depth-oriented work.
I'm Joel, a clinical psychologist based in Buenos Aires with over 6 years of experience working with adults. I trained at the University of Buenos Aires — one of Latin America's most rigorous psychology programs — with a deep foundation in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic thought. I work with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or lost — whether that means dealing with anxiety, grief, a painful breakup, or simply a sense that something isn't right but you can't quite name it. I believe therapy works best when it's a real conversation: honest, unhurried, and built on genuine trust. Living abroad adds its own weight — the loneliness, the identity shifts, the distance from family, the feeling of never fully belonging. I welcome expats and internationals looking for a therapist who understands that experience.
My work is grounded in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theory, which means I'm interested in more than symptom relief. I want to understand what's really going on — the patterns, the history, the things that are hard to say out loud. Together, we create a space where nothing is off-limits. That said, my style is not cold or distant. Sessions feel like a real conversation. I ask questions, I listen carefully, and I'm genuinely curious about your particular story — not a generic version of it. I work mainly with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, identity questions, life transitions, and the specific challenges of living far from home. I'm comfortable working in English or Spanish, and I adapt to whatever language feels most natural for you. Buenos Aires has one of the richest psychoanalytic traditions in the world — I trained within that tradition and bring it into my work every day, in a way that's accessible and grounded rather than abstract.
