As a counsellor, my approach is rooted in the belief that each individual possesses the inherent capacity for growth, healing, and self-discovery. My role is to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where patient's feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
Central to my approach is the principle of empathy, which involves deeply understanding and validating the patient's feelings and perspectives. I strive to enter the patient's world, seeing things from their viewpoint, and offering a compassionate presence that encourages openness and honesty.
Another key element of my approach is unconditional positive regard, which means accepting the patient without judgment or conditions. This acceptance fosters a trusting therapeutic relationship where patients feel valued and respected, regardless of their challenges or past experiences.
I also emphasize the importance of authenticity in the counseling process. By being genuine and transparent, I encourage patients to be true to themselves, facilitating a deeper connection and promoting personal growth.
My person-centered approach is systemic; I view the patient as the expert on their own life. I act as a facilitator, helping patients tap into their inner resources and strengths, empowering them to make informed choices and find their own solutions. I believe that patients have the answers within them, and my role is to guide and support them in uncovering those answers.
Ultimately, my goal as a counsellor is to support patients achieve greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and lead a healthy Life.
